Description

This resource on Inverse (Composite) Trig Functions includes Task Cards, an Organizer, HW, plus QR's.

This topic is usually found in the Unit Analytic Trigonometry. Students generally have a difficult time with this section, yet it is needed as a prerequisite for many problems in Calculus. These self checking activities will reinforce students' understanding of the topic and give them a good foundation.

Included in the Lesson:

  • 20 Task Cards
    • # 1 - 14 have numerical answers. Students either rely on their knowledge of the special angles such as π/6, π/3, or π/4 or set up a triangle to determine the values.
    • #15 – 20 Have answers in terms of x and students must set up a triangle to solve. Most of the cards have hints on them. This is an important skill needed for Calculus.

  • Same Questions in worksheet format
  • An additional handout with 12 questions. The handout can be used as enrichment, homework, group work, or as an assessment.
  • Study Guide - Organizer for students to learn the formulas
  • All Answer Keys
  • Student Response Sheet
  • QR Codes. You can post the QR sheets on a computer screen, print out a copy for each group (2 sided saves paper), or cut them up and attach to the task cards.

Students should not need a calculator for this activity as all answers are exact. Answers with radicals are rationalized.

Please look at the preview to ensure these problems are appropriate for your students.
