What educators are saying

I used this to introduce poetry to my 7th grade students. I made a few adjustments to some of the stations, like add in one with song lyrics and a spoken word poem. My students liked the variety and complexity of the poems.
My students LOVE this resource and have said on multiple occasions how much it has helped them! Thank you so much for this valuable time-saving resource!

Description

Instead of delivering a PowerPoint lecture on the definition of poetry, immerse your students in poems about poetry with these interactive learning stations designed to engage through inquiry-based learning. Students will read various poems by a variety of authors, contemplating the definition of poetry, how to read poetry, and what it means to write poetry. By the end of this lesson, they will be able to answer the question of "What is poetry?" in their own unique (and hopefully poetic) way!

Each station consists of a QR link to a poem (you can also print them out), questions, and an extension discussion task for early finishers. This resource also includes a student recording sheet, complete with an exit ticket.

When you purchase these stations, you will receive the following in the form of a 7-slide EDITABLE PowerPoint:

  • Teacher Information
  • 5 Stations
  • Student Recording Sheet + Exit Ticket
