Factors of Production Lesson with Sorting and Application Activity

This comprehensive lesson covers the factors of production. Inside, you'll find 4 slides introducing land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurial resources with a corresponding note-taking guide. Next, your students will sort the factors of production in a graphic organizer with a cut-and-paste or digital drag-and-drop activity. Then, they will extend their learning by identifying the factors of production for a company. This lesson will help set the foundations for your basics of economics unit while appealing to a variety of learning types.

    FREE Economic Systems Graphic Organizer

This economic system graphic organizer can be used to take notes during a presentation, while reading a textbook or an article, watching a short informational video, or conducting Internet research. It includes a space for command, mixed, and market economy key characteristics and a short reflection prompt. Inside, you'll also find an answer key to make review easy.

Economic Systems Chat Stations Gallery Walk

This discussion activity is the perfect addition to your economics unit on command, mixed, and market economic systems. Other key concepts include Laissez-faire, government control, and how economic systems influence citizens' lives. This versatile resource includes a digital and printable version for flexibility.

If you're not familiar with chat stations, they are essentially a type of gallery walk where students move around the room to discuss questions. This product contains 10 open-ended discussion questions on the characteristics of economic systems for a high school business class. At the conclusion of the activity, hold a discussion on student responses with the provided discussion guide. This strategy may help students feel more comfortable participating in class when they have had time to discuss each question with a peer prior to the whole class discussion.

Factors of Production and Economic Indicators Country Research Project

This project ties together the factors of production and economic indicators of a country. Inside, you'll find a cheat sheet with vocabulary terms, guided research questions, project instructions, a grading rubric, and a sharing reflection form to explore essential economic concepts. Students select a country and research general country information, natural resources, labor resources, capital resources, entrepreneurial resources, government type (economic system), GDP, revenue, expenditure, national debt, budget surplus/deficit, inflation, unemployment, exports, imports, and transnational issues.

The guided research questions are broken down into two parts so they can be split up and completed at different times or together. To split it up, have students complete the Factors of Production Country Research Project section when you cover factors of production and the remaining project after covering economic systems and economic indicators.

Didn't cover these concepts? No problem, take advantage of the included economic unit vocab cheat sheet.

After completing the guided research prompts, students will create an infographic to display their findings. Then have students share their findings orally, as a gallery walk, or digitally to learn about other countries. A sharing form is included to help students reflect on each project.

Economic Indicators and Business Cycle Write the Room Scavenger Hunt

Get your students up and moving with this fun, economics write the room scavenger hunt! This activity will reinforce essential concepts and key terminology for economic indicators and the business cycle. This file includes 20 definitional or real-world application prompts for students to match with key terminology. Students will move around the room to read each prompt (a digital option is also included) and use the word bank on their worksheet to record their responses. An alternate worksheet is provided without the terms if you prefer not to give students the word bank.

Graphing the Business Cycle with Economic Indicators Around the Room

Engage your students with this interactive exploration of the business cycle. In this hands-on learning activity, your students will graph GDP growth and the unemployment rate for a FICTIONAL country. Based on the data, students will identify the stages of the business cycle and make connections between economic indicators and the business cycle with 9 open-ended questions.

With the print version, encourage collaboration by placing data points around the room, allowing students to get out of their seats and move around the room to complete the activity. A digital version is also included for a post-and-go experience. Data points and the included scenario are fictional and designed for educational purposes to illustrate the business cycle. This activity uses the years 1996 to 2022.
