What educators are saying

My students loved this activity and I felt like they had a good understanding of decimals after this activity. We were also working on converting fractions to decimals to percentages so I extended the activity further by having them do the percentages
This activity was great for student work stations during small group instruction. They keep the students engaged while also giving them practice with the skill.

Description

This interactive introduction to decimals activity reinforces that there are different ways to represent decimals. Students SHOW a decimal on a number line, with place value blocks, in word form, or as a fraction/mixed number. You can easily differentiate learning for students by varying the place value used on the decimal cards. In some cases, there is no one right answer so it allows for multiple entry points for learning.

92 Decimal Cards:

♦tenths (20 cards)

♦hundredths (36 cards)

♦thousandths (36 cards).

NOTE: The decimal cards can be used for other tasks involving comparing decimals or ordering decimals.

Three Versions of the Recording Sheet

Version 1 can be used for practice in a group setting.

Version 2 can be used for students to reflect on their learning with a student checklist.

Version 3 can be used as a formative assessment with a five point rubric.
