What educators are saying
Very well structured lessons. It starts with an explanation of how to write solid arguments. This is extremely helpful, especially, if you are going to teach students how have never done debating before.

Description
This four lesson unit is designed to be a comprehensive debate tutorial for teachers who are new to debate or who want to implement debate into their current curriculum. I tried to design these materials with lots of explanation where necessary and minimal prep work to finish. I have taught debate for over ten years in the classroom and online and the knowledge and expertise I have gained have gone into these lessons to make them a perfect gateway to argumentation and debate. All lessons are online-friendly.
This product includes:
- Three individual lesson plans with creative and interactive Google Slide presentations, in-class activities and homework, with rubrics and answer keys. Each lesson takes approximately 90 minutes for middle school to younger secondary students.
- Instructions and materials to hold a time-friendly in-class debate with a comprehensive and regularly updated list of topics. Topics cover a variety of areas and age appropriateness. From current events, to all your favorite food topics, you no longer have to scour the internet for the perfect debate topic.
Do your students already know how to debate? See my Intermediate Speech Writing Unit for a more advanced lesson.
