Description

You will download several introduction to fractions activity worksheet packet (60 printable + 58 digital Google slides) for your 2nd and 3rd grade students to learn beginning fractions on a number line, beginning fractions picture models, equivalent fractions, mixed numbers, comparing fractions, word problems and more. The introducing fractions activities are the same with the exception of some movable and interactive parts on the Google slides. This fraction packet works well for morning work, independent work, or intervention work.

Fraction activities include:

  • Circle the images that show equal parts.
  • Fraction anchor charts
  • What fraction of the shapes are circles? Squares?
  • Color to show the given fraction.
  • Does the image represent the given fraction?
  • Fraction number lines anchor chard and equivalent number lines
  • Label the missing fraction on the number line.
  • Circle the larger fraction.
  • Numerators and denominators anchor chart
  • Fill in the missing numerator or denominator.
  • Fraction wall
  • Color the fraction wall.
  • Label the fraction wall.
  • Write the missing number to form equivalent fractions.
  • Fill in the missing number to make fractions equivalent to whole numbers.
  • Determine if the shaded parts are greater than, less than or equal to one.
  • Color to show the mixed number given.
  • Write the mixed number shown by the images.
  • Read the number word; write the fraction or mixed number.
  • Write the fraction described in the word problem.
  • Fraction tiles for use in centers, bulletin boards and more.

Understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram.
Represent a fraction 1/𝘣 on a number line diagram by defining the interval from 0 to 1 as the whole and partitioning it into 𝘣 equal parts. Recognize that each part has size 1/𝘣 and that the endpoint of the part based at 0 locates the number 1/𝘣 on the number line.
Recognize and generate simple equivalent fractions, (e.g., 1/2 = 2/4, 4/6 = 2/3). Explain why the fractions are equivalent, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
