Orientation Drama Unit
This package includes everything you need to start your drama course! The orientation unit is an excellent introduction to drama. It works on skills like cooperation and communication, but also develops rapport and trust between classmates. This is a unit I would easily teach at the middle school/junior or senior high level. The activities and lessons are foundational, and easily understood. You don’t need to have a degree in Dramatic Education to teach this unit! You could print off this entire package and teach the first lesson today!
Everything you need is here and more. This unit includes:
• 12 lesson plans for a 60 minute class
• 36 games and activities
• 12 circle time discussion questions
• 12 journal prompt posters
• Course outline
• Areas of the stage quiz
• Journal handout and starters
• Rubrics for journals, tableaux project, and participation
Activities can be easily adapted to meet the needs of your classroom. For instance, if your class period is shorter or longer, activities can be eliminated, and many activities can be repeated, or played for a longer period of time. There are ample activities per lesson plan, and you may choose to leave some out.
