Description
This engaging lesson provides students with an introduction to the U.S. Judicial Branch. It focuses on the role of the Judiciary, judicial review, stare decisis, and the judicial philosophies of restraint vs activism. The resource features an engaging warm-up that will get your students moving and thinking about key Judicial Branch unit themes. It also includes an editable 14-slide power point with notes, video clips, and discussion questions. Fill-in-the-blank cloze notes are also included, so students can follow along. Lastly, I have given the option of an extension activity that features two opposing judicial philosophies of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision in 2022. This resource is great for AP® or General U.S. Government classes and since it is editable, you can make changes to fit your curriculum!
