Description

This is a fabulous AP Government activity - one of my students' favorite activities. This is a fun way to teach students how interest groups influence policy. In interest group speed dating, each student is assigned a different interest group (the project instructions have a list of interest groups). Students will research their interest group and create a resume for their interest group. The project instructions contain questions interest group resumes must answer and a sample resume to guide students.

When interest group resumes are completed, students will take part in interest group speed dating (speed dating instructions are included). Students will partner up and share interest group information for three minutes. After three minutes, students will partner up with another student. Teachers can get through eight to ten 3 minute rounds. I recommend having Kenny G playing in the background to build the mood.

The project includes a speed dating reflection sheet and a resume rubric.
