What educators are saying

This seems like a well put together resource, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for for my honors biology class.
This was a great alternative for students with significant absences, and students that couldn't or didn't want to do the rat dissection.

Description

Are you looking for a fun way to introduce a dissection lab to the students this year? Dissection labs can be stressful, messy and quite a bit of prep work under normal circumstances. Would you like something engaging that the students can do on their own with not a lot of need for preparation? or maybe you are teaching a hybrid model of “in person students” and online students.

Then these slides, & lab packets may be for you. Included are 12 slides that were created for the interactive dissection lab that students will navigate along with the lab packet. The packets consists of 4 pages and are broken into 2 sections (external anatomy, and internal anatomy). Each packet includes Lab directions, and reflection questions that can be adjusted to your needs. This lab takes about 2 class periods in the classroom, or about 90 minutes.  The slides & packets were created for Middle School students but can be adjusted for any age.

Students can navigate through the interactive lab slides by tapping items located in the home slide to access videos and review over the parts of the Rat. Teachers can change out the Bitmoji, add in their own links, then publish to the web to share with their students. The slides have helpful videos that show students how to draw a Rat, review over proper lab safety rules, and video clips of a dissection with out physically dissecting the Rat ( or can be used as a review before the hands on event).

Please be sure to check out my Worm and Frog dissection labs, too!

Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells. Emphasis is on the conceptual understanding that cells form tissues and tissues form organs specialized for particular body functions. Examples could include the interaction of subsystems within a system and the normal functioning of those systems. Assessment does not include the mechanism of one body system independent of others. Assessment is limited to the circulatory, excretory, digestive, respiratory, muscular, and nervous systems.
