In this captivating escape room, students will travel through literary time periods, solving puzzles and challenges as they strive to get back to their correct time period! From decoding ancient texts in Ancient Greece to unraveling the mysteries of Victorian literature, each room offers a unique opportunity for students to engage with reading skills in a whole new way! Students will be so engaged they won't know they are practicing important skills such as inferencing and looking for context clues. Students can work independently or with a partner for scaffolding. This escape room is engaging, straightforward, and I was able to have all of my 7th graders break out in 30 minutes. With the introduction, the escape game, and the reflection, this activity can be completed in a single 40–45-minute class!
