Hello!
We are over the moon excited to offer this unit to everyone!
This unit is Common Core Aligned : CCLSS ELA Literacy L.4.5.B & 5.5B. And it targets the goal of teaching children the meaning of common idioms.
This unit contains a large variety of illustrated idioms that are explained and practiced in a variety of ways in order to help increase a student's ability to understand and use idioms in their own every day speech. It was developed to help keep students busy and having fun while they learn to change literal meanings into figurative expressions.
The posters are colorful and can be displayed around a room. The flash cards can be laminated and used over and over again!
The nice thing about this unit is that it won't cost you an arm and a leg and it will help your students from feeling like a fish out of water when it comes to idioms. :)
This unit would be especially helpful for use in a social skills group as some students that have trouble understanding figurative language may also have trouble with some social interactions.
It will truly prevent your students from being couch potatoes as they play games and complete fun activities!
Don't have cold feet about using this unit friends, because if you take the plunge and open this can of worms by administering the pre-test and starting the training of idioms, your students will soon think that using and understanding idioms each and every day can be a piece of cake!
