Integers & Absolute Value: 30 Task Card

Included in this set are 30 task cards on integers and absolute value, a student answer sheet, and an answer key. These cards are all short answer questions. There are 3 types of problems. The first 10 cards ask students to put a set of numbers in order from either smallest to largest or largest to smallest. Cards 11-20 ask students to evaluate different expressions that include absolute value. Cards 21-30 ask students to place the correct symbol (<, >, =) between two numbers.

There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom. Sometimes I have students pair up, sometimes I have students work alone. When students work in pairs, I give each student a task card. Students then work together to solve each of the problems. After a certain amount of time (2-3minutes) each group passes their cards to the next group. When I have students work on task cards by themselves, I pass out the task cards, then set a timer so that every 2minutes students pass their cards. These cards can also be separated into centers. You could arrange 6 centers in your classroom with 5 cards each and have groups of students visit each center for a given amount of time.

There are 2 versions of the cards included in this set. One has a QR codes, one does not. Each of the versions also have a copy that is has a black and white border (to save ink) while the other set has a colored border. Free QR code readers can be downloaded on Ipods, Ipads, and most smart phones.
