Description

Coaching is a powerful professional learning strategy, but the process is only as effective as the coaches who lead it. It’s worth investing time in hiring the right coaches because they can have an impact on the whole school.

These forms and checklists are editable, fillable and printable. I have been coaching teachers for 12 years so far. I learned that the first task for me when coaching teachers is to work on relationship building through applying the following:

● Share personal Info – birthday, hobbies, talents, leisure activities, etc.

● Make a plan to communicate with mentee for 20-30 minutes weekly *Person to person

*Phone

*Email *Hall chat

*Note in teacher mailbox

*Sit together in faculty meetings

*Have lunch together

Examples of this bundle includes:

1- Editable Month by Month New Teacher/Mentor Checklist

Monthly Mentoring Topics that needs to be completed and you can customize this detailed document to your needs.

2- Teacher mentoring/ Coaching: Editable CAREER SUPPORT CHECKLIST

COMPLETION OF THE CAREER TEACHER SUPPORT PROGRAM

The teacher, in collaboration with the Principal or site supervisor and the teacher leader, will complete the Career Support Checklist. The Principal or site supervisor may provide additional content and will determine the length of the program based on site and participant needs.

CAREER SUPPORT CHECKLIST

A teacher new to the School with one or more years of experience, while is responsible for demonstrating accountability. This is to be accomplished through the checklist below that involves self-study and support of an assigned grade level or department leader to learn policies, procedures, rules, guidelines, and expectations related to high-quality job performance.

3-Mentor observation packet (Editable & fillable resource)

The packet includes:

Post-Lesson Teacher Reflection

Purpose: This post-lesson reflection is designed to be used immediately following a lesson you have planned and taught. It provides key information for your discussions with your mentor and focuses primarily on student learning and reflection to inform teaching. This template can be used to reflect on any class session, not just those sessions that are observed by your mentor.

Observation Checklist 3

General Guiding Questions for Classroom Observations

Purpose: Below is a general list of questions for conducting classroom observations

Completed by: Mentor Date: _____________________

Beginning Teacher

Instructions: These questions can be used instead of the sample observation checklists provided above. You can use the questions as a whole or select specific questions that relate to the beginning teacher’s professional learning goals. The mentor and beginning teacher determine the focus of the observation in the pre observation meeting and then adapt this tool, as needed, to fit the focus. Record your comments on an expanded version of this tool (with more space for responses) and attach this record to the Observation Cover Sheet.

Other Observation Techniques

In addition to using observation checklists and guiding questions, there are many other approaches to gathering and recording information during class observations. Other techniques are outlined below and can be used for an entire lesson or for part of a lesson, as agreed to with your beginning teacher.

4-Mentoring & Teacher Induction booklet (editable & fillable resource)

Research indicates that student achievement, in part, depends on the construction of a school culture that fosters growth for students and staff alike. It includes many resources for the mentoring and mentee teachers, including a schedule for the year, checklists of material to cover, and opportunities available for new teachers.
