Description
Use this game as a whole class or small group oral activity in which the students are told to change / substitute the beginning / initial sound(s) of a word to make a new word. Playing with words is so important for your students' foundational literacy skills and understanding the science of reading. The images make the game engaging.
You need to print the title page only so you know what to say. View it in PowerPoint Slideshow presentation mode. Have the students say the pictured word. Then ask them to substitute/change the initial sound(s) that you say. Then reveal the picture for the new word with the new initial sound by clicking on the wand.
e.g. Say cat and change the /c/ to /h/. What new word did you make? (hat)
