Initial Sound Cards Spanish/ Sonidos Iniciales Español

Help children become proficient in their phonetic abilities by practicing to identify beginning sounds in words using this set of sorting cards in Spanish!

You will receive a total of 150 image cards (6 image cards for each letter of the alphabet with some exceptions) for the child to sort by initial sound. The image cards contain real images of things and are of high quality. I carefully chose each image card/word to represent the appropriate phonetic sound of each letter of the Spanish alphabet. I have included words that include plant names, animals, objects in our surroundings, etc. It is a diverse set of cards that is intended to enhance the child's language vocabulary when working with this material.

In addition, you will receive 30 cards for the adult to become acquainted with the vocabulary of the image cards. These control cards contain the letter of the alphabet and a list of words that correspond to the image cards.

Prior to having the child practice sorting, I would recommend introducing the child to the image cards and having an understanding of each letter sound of the Spanish alphabet.

Note:

- there are only two image cards for the letter /ñ/

- there are only two image cards for the letter /x/ and the image cards for those letters do not begin with the letter /x/. These provide a reference to the main phonetic sound for this letter of the alphabet. I would refrain from providing the child with the multiple phonetic sounds that can be represented with the letter /x/.

- there are only three image cards for the letter /w/
