Description

I love this Industrialization activity. It is a short writing prompt after students read fast facts and a scenario that puts them int he shoes of a factory worker, supervisor, or owner. Students will consider the three different perspectives and write an appeal to their needs and situation.

The workers want better conditions and pay, the supervisors want more output from the workers, and the factory owners must justify their conditions to the public after complaints were filed.

This is a 3 page resource, so you can give out any combination of workers, supervisors, and owners and have students share there speeches to communicate how different perspectives change. Its a great critical thinking activity with some excellent facts and resources from the era of American factory life.

This could be a journal or interactive activity.
