Industrial Revolution Child Labor - Photo Analysis Activity with Assignments

16 page Industrial Revolution resource is a photo analysis that uses a "centers" activity format with seven different photos related to child labor.

The students rotate through each of the seven centers in order to view a different image related to the Industrial Revolution and child labor and use an included photo analysis chart in order to record their observations and interpretations of each image. The included photo analysis chart requires students to consider the jobs, age and dangers that each of the photos display. This is a great activity for building and improving student photo analysis skills and collaboration skills as they rotate and work with other students.

As well, the resource includes a set of questions to accompany the seven photos. The last questions requires students to chose one as the most powerful, and can be adjusted to include a debate activity.

Finally, this activity contains an activity wherein students use the included child labor Industrial Revolution photos as a prompts towards writing their own short creative stories in relation to the lives and experiences of child workers during the time. This is an excellent activity for a humanities classroom or for having your social studies students to show their understanding in a creative and original manner.
