Individuals as Consumers

This Promethean Flipchart for Activ Board gives students an insight on process of manufacturer to consumer. The motivating introduction at the beginning of the lesson shows a product and asks questions that gets students thinking about where it came from, how it got there, etc. Then it gives a breakdown of all of the steps that it took for this product to get into the hands of a consumer. Next, the daily objective and a higher order thinking question is displayed. The students are then given vocabulary terms: consumer and good, along with the definitions of each. For the next activity, the class will brainstorm a list of goods that they use, and then are invited to discuss where they think the goods come from and the process they go through to get to them. Next, a flowchart is displayed that gives students a strong visual of the process of manufacturer to consumer. Last, is a shoulder-partner Kagan activity in which students and their partners must generate a list of 3 goods they need or want and discuss the manufacturer to consumer process of each good. This lesson is good for teachers teaching social living or school counselors teaching guidance lessons in the classroom.
