Description

Looking for a creative way to hold your students accountable for their independent reading? This project allows students plenty of space to demonstrate their understanding of a novel– with a focus on characterization.  Students create a scrapbook using multiple genres to show different important aspects of the character and plot. You could even assign this after reading a whole class novel!

Students can follow these instructions to create a digital scrapbook on Google Slides or Canva-- but many students also enjoy using real scrapbook paper and other media to make a physical version!

This resource includes:

  • 23 slide slideshow with minilessons, example pieces, and space for students to brainstorm
  • Rubric for assessment
