What educators are saying

I used this as a returning from break review and a part of my "graphing bootcamp" lessons. This was a great way to have students practicing identifying variables in a low prep way for me, while getting back into the swing of things in the new year.
This worked perfectly yo review variables with my 6th and 7th graders. It was easy to use and the kids enjoyed it. Thanks!

Description

Description:

Do you need a simple way to teach your students about scientific variables and how to identify them? This is the perfect resource for that! This product focuses on independent, dependent, and controlled variables and is designed for grades 6-8th. This is an editable Google Form assignment that auto grades the answers.

What's Included:

  • A seven minute variables video lesson that explains what scientific variables are and how to identify them.
  • Google Form assignment where students practice identifying variables with scientific questions (9 sections total on the assignment). Seven of the sections are multiple choice and two are short answer responses. 23 total questions are included
  • An answer key is a part of the Google Form and the multiple choice questions will automatically be graded. You will just need to grade the short answer responses.

How I Like to Use This Product:

I like to use this resource for introducing scientific variables at the beginning of the school year. This year I posted the variables video lesson and Google Forms practice assignment on our online platform (Canvas). Students completed this for asynchronous work. Then, I like to follow up this lesson with a fun science investigation where students practice identifying variables to plan an investigation. The Bubble Investigation and Tootsie Pop Investigation are great for this (search for these ideas on Instagram)!
