Description

Up to 24 players cooperate (with their team) and compete (to attack or save the body!) in this demonstration game.

You'll make the board on the floor, using yarn or tape. Players take the roles of attackers (bacterium or virus), defenders (B cells or T cells) or the body cells whose health is at stake. Each role has a prescribed movement, as in chess.

"Body events" happen, and the players react as they can. For example: "Today I went on a 5-mile run, even though I was not feeling well. This used up a lot of my energy so now I have less energy for fighting pathogens. My immune system feels weak and the pathogens have an advantage. Both viruses and bacteria may move 2 spaces on this turn instead of just one." Pathogens move first, immune cells second, while body cells step off the board---or stay---or turn into viruses if you're really unlucky. The game ends when all body cells are conquered---or all pathogens have been removed.

The game download includes detailed instructions for setting up and playing the game, as well as 9 "body events" each for two rounds of the game.
