What educators are saying

This was a great resource to use during center time to help with following directions. It is a great way to work on individual goals.
My students love using this during small group instruction to reinforce skills! Thank you for a great resource!

Description

Imitation is the basis for developing new skills in all areas of development. This is especially true for learning communication and developing social skills. Babies and toddlers learn new things quickly and efficiently by cueing in and watching those around them. For autistic children, imitation is often difficult. This resource will help you start to address imitation by encouraging imitation with objects.

This resource includes 3 sets of flashcards (12 in each set). These "actions with objects" flashcards are meant to encourage beginning imitation skills.

A datasheet for each set is included, along with a blank datasheet for you to create your own list of actions with objects.

A materials list inside this resource will simplify the process of collecting the objects needed to go along with these flashcards. (*objects not included)

You will need to find the following objects to go along with the flashcards: maraca, frog, 2 toy cars, 2 wooden sticks, play-doh, toy airplane, drum, rolling pin, toy train, figurine, cookie cutter, 6 blocks, toy bed, candles, cup, blanket, plastic knife, small pitcher, brush, ball, doll, put in activity, spoon, and bowl.

You can grab the transparent zipper pouches for storing these activities here.
