Description

Art, literature and writing are spun together in this fun collage project inspired by artist Wayne Thiebaud and the poem Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich by Adam Rex.

There is minimal planning for teachers! That is how I approach all my products.

Elements and Principles of art included along with possible Common Core standards for writing.

This lesson provides a slide presentation and several handouts. The slides contain a Wayne Thiebaud lesson along with visual directions for making sandwich art. There is also a Youtube link for Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich in the slide notes. The handouts include a sheet for brainstorming ideas for sandwich art, a pre-writing sheet, and a packet on ideas of how to make food.

A fun project that is sure to produce laughter with learning!

Happy Creating,

- Amy

I have done this project with my 2nd grade students and it takes three 30-minute class periods plus the writing.

Note:

I downloaded the Powerpoint, PDF, and Word document on my Google Drive using Google Slides, Acrobat for Google, and Google Docs and it worked perfectly. Let me know if you have any problems!
