HOW TO USE:

GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS
The graphic organizers included in this resource are designed to help students identify and summarize key information from a variety of texts, including narrative, informative, poetry, dramas, plays, etc.
There are two types of graphic organizers included in this writing summaries resource: Literature & Informational Text.
The Literature graphic organizers include a section at the top for students to write their IVF Summary Statement; identify the beginning, middle, and end; and some pages also offer a spot for writing a conclusion.
The Informational Text graphic organizers include a section at the top for students to write their IVF Summary Statement, the details or facts that support the IVF Statement, explanations of each detail or fact, and the conclusion.
The graphic organizers can be used with ANY text or novel making them versatile and adaptable to different types of texts, novels, or units they are teaching.
READING PASSAGES
Includes 4 reading passages. These passages allow students to practice the skill of summarizing in a low-stakes setting.
TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS
