Indian No More, written by Charlene Willing Mcmanis and Traci Sorell is an award-winning, important novel for this generation. This book is a coming-of-age story about a Native American girl who grew up at the time of the 1956 Indian Relocation Act.
Due to the importance of this novel, we want to offer this at a lower than usual price, as we want as many classrooms reading this novel as possible. We also added information in our usual slideshow about cultural references that would be important to know when understanding this novel. We also took the utmost care to be sensitive to the perspective represented in the novel. We were lucky to have the feedback and support of a local education and advocacy group, Redbud Resource Group, that we feel was imperative to creating a complete resource.
Included in this resource is:
A 24 page packet including comprehension questions for each chapter, writing/drawing activities, a word search, character analysis, and a who said it activity. Questions are geared to aid student understanding by drawing attention to key points of the novel.
This product also comes with a 64 page digital google slides that provides vocabulary instruction for words present in the text. These slides are recommended to be introduced at the beginning of each chapter to enhance understanding for all learners. Each slide provides a vocabulary word, the definition of the word and a visual support. Each chapter has at least two or more terms provided. The link to this can be found at the end of this unit (a pdf version has also been added to this resource to assist with easy access).
