Description
Help kids and young adults learn about their IEPs and disabilities with this IEP Scavenger Hunt activity and lesson. This resource is a lesson and activity to help kids and young adults understand their Individualized Education Programs and disabilities. Understanding one’s own disability is an important step in being able to work through individual challenges, advocate for oneself, and ultimately meet goals. With this scavenger hunt activity, kids and young adults are the ones reviewing their own plans to really understand them and what is included.
Digital Version
A digital version for Google Slides is now included. To access the digital version, open the PDF with "digital directions" in the title. You will find a link in a blue box. Click that to access your Google Drive file!
How to Use
A letter to parents is included to send out first, letting parents and guardians know that you will be learning about each child's own disability. Students then complete an IEP pre-assessment. Next, students will learn about what is included in an IEP with a student worksheet. After understanding the basics, kids will use their own IEPs to complete an IEP Scavenger hunt, looking for goals, accommodations, strengths, and more. Afterward, a reflection page is included and students can re-do the assessment as a post-assessment to show their new learning.
