What educators are saying

My students like it very much. We used it for alot of aspects and it helped to dig deeper to the the topic. Thank you.

Description

We all need a hero! Within this 68 page packet you will find engaging, interactive activities designed around math, literacy, arts and crafts. The interactive notebook aspect is particularly fun for 3rd-5th grades. This is a 4 -6 week trans-disciplinary unit study, with the theme of Who We Are, using the idea of heroes as the lens with which we inquire into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.

Central Idea: Characteristics of heroes in various cultures throughout history help define individual beliefs.

The lessons are presented in a way that made sense to me as I was planning. Of course, you may use them in any order you prefer for your own group of children.

Every lesson is based around key concepts conducive with the IB PYP. The CCSS ELA and Math standards are planned around 5th grade.

Much of the learning is inquiry based with a lot of emphasis on research and communication skills.
