What educators are saying

I love these whole unit plans. For someone still finding their way in the PYP they are excellent. They have everything you need. Integrated math, english, history and more. This particular unit has proven very popular with my PYP5 class.

Description

Welcome to the world of civics! This is a 6 week transdisciplinary unit study with the theme of How We Organise Ourselves. Using the idea of what it means to be a citizen in the world, we inquire into the central idea and how leaders have governed world citizens over time, with various outcomes and effects upon society. With over 150 pages of hands on activities and lessons, this is a complete unit of inquiry. UK &; USA spelling included.

The summative assessment has an emphasis on action through raising awareness of issues and how, we, as a group united with common goals and just means, can educate others in order to create change. The lessons are suggestions as to how you could use the materials and resources created.

Everything is aligned with the IB PYP phases 3 & 4 and the CCSS standards for 4th &5thgrade.

Central idea: Interconnectedness of human structures can impact society’s perspective and promote or deny social justice and equal opportunities.

Lines of inquiry:
