IB PYP Bilingual Atttitudes Posters - Simplified Chinese with PINYIN

Hello PYP Teachers and other educators interested in character education, building a secondary language-centered classroom, or perhaps modeling that you are also a lifelong learner ~ I hope you find these resources helpful!

Each of the 12 PYP Attitudes has:

• The name of the attitude
• The characters in Simplified Chinese
• The Pinyin of the character
• An explanation of what each attitude means in the world of PYP, in kid-friendly language
• The explanation translated into Simplified Chinese
• The explanation represented in pinyin, for non-native speakers, creating a way for students to learn new characters and practice correct tone usage

For Classroom Teachers:

• Use these signs to meet the requirement of having the PYP attitudes displayed on your wall
• Move them over to your documentation board to showcase the attitudes your unit is focusing on
• Encourage a co-teaching model and plan with your foreign language instructor to increase depth of learning

For Foreign Language Teachers:

• Use these signs to meet the requirement of having the PYP attitudes displayed on your wall
• Have students learn to read either pinyin or characters depending on learning level
• Basing units around attitudes will increase student learning and reduce classroom disruptions

For Administrators:

• If you are re-certifying with the IB-PYP, please consider buying several licenses for your classrooms, as these will illustrate your school's commitment to the PYP ideal of supporting dual languages
• Purchasing resources like this beforehand and having them laminated for newly expatriated teachers can ease their transition to overseas life, and increase retention rates
