I Have Thoughts Social Narrative, Read Aloud Video, & Digital Reflection Sheets

Description
A social narrative about how thoughts and behaviors are related.
This simple story is the perfect supplement to any social-emotional curriculum and lessons based on the Theory of Mind. Students, particularly those diagnosed with autism or social communication disorders, may have difficulty realizing how their behaviors have an effect on the thoughts and feelings of others around them. They may have skill deficits in perspective-taking, social-emotional reciprocity, and empathy.
The narrative starts off with a brief introduction on the concept of thoughts. It also describes how appropriate and expected behaviors give people positive thoughts and comfortable feelings, whereas inappropriate and unexpected behaviors give others negative thoughts and uncomfortable feelings.
Extra bonus social narrative for upper elementary grade levels (3rd-5th). The second version of the social narrative is similar to the first, but includes slightly different text and the clip art graphics of the students are more realistic than the version for early elementary grades (1st-2nd).
Social narratives provided in both color and black&white print.
Adapted for Distance Learning
- Read Aloud Video included: assign to students who benefit from having the social narrative read out loud or who comprehend better from a multimodal approach
- Reflection/Scenario Questions included: Use the reflection and scenario questions to check for comprehension or to guide discussions about the social narrative during individual/group sessions. Depending on the student's ability, I accommodate by asking the questions verbally and accept their verbal responses in addition to written. Review the questions first and assign the page that fit your student's ability level. This PDF is provided as a digital activity.
