Description

The Unwrapping Potential Social Skill Book Series was created for use with my own students who struggle with the most basic of social skills. Through the use of children’s literature, my social skill resource will enable teachers and students to share discussions concerning appropriate and inappropriate behavioral choices. Additionally, through the use of social stories, students will become more receptive in learning the what, who, when, where, why, and the how of exhibiting appropriate behavioral choices.

Little Sebastien finds that when he faces everyday situations that make him either mad, frustrated, annoyed, disappointed, ashamed, upset, discouraged, cranky, or miserable; all he has to do is use his mantra “I can handle it” and come up with positive choices to cope with difficult emotions.

Based on Laurie Wright’s book, “Mindful Mantras: I Can Handle It!”, this resource will teach students the importance of using POSITIVE self talk to recognize HEALTHY COPING strategies when faced with DIFFICULT emotions. Activities included in this resource allow for class discussions, self-reflection, and role play of appropriate coping skills.
