Description

Prepare your students for the 100th day of school with this celebration of the number 99! Focus on the number ninety-nine as you and your students explore and practice a variety of math concepts, including multiples of nine, repeated addition, odd versus even numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. First graders will enjoy exploring the number 99, as well as other two-digit numbers, while students in 2nd and 3rd grade will enjoy challenging activities that celebrate the math they've learned by the day before the 100th day of school.

Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Relate counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2).
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
Determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members, e.g., by pairing objects or counting them by 2s; write an equation to express an even number as a sum of two equal addends.
