What educators are saying

This resource was a great addition to our study of human rights. The task cards sparked some in-depth and thoughtful critical thinking and discussions in my middle years social studies class. Thank you!

Description

Bring Human Rights to your students in an engaging way!

Students read about the history of human rights along with an abridged list of human rights set forth by the United Nations (primary source!). Students utilize graphic organizers to sort out their knowledge of human rights. Once they are familiar with them, students use their primary source document to decipher why certain task cards violate or support human rights.
Activity is CCSS Aligned!

I break this activity into to days with my students. One day to get them familiar with the content, and the next day we do the task card activity.

Whats included?

1. One reading on the history of human rights

2. An abridged reading of the Human Rights Doctrine

3. A short reading guide for both documents

4. Evidence based reading worksheet

4. Task card worksheet

5. Task Cards
