Description
French is difficult and pronouncing French can be a challenge. Some students don’t have a “good ear” and have a hard time to reproduce sounds. I came up with a system that helps students with the pronunciation of French. It’s visual and they/you don’t have to learn all kinds of symbols (?, ??, ?, œ?, …) and what they sound like. With this system, you just have to read like you would read English and it will sound French.
I have tested this system with a text-to-speech program and it works.
For example: Samedi would be coded sah-muh-dee. Read sah-muh-dee like an English word and you will sound like a French person reading “samedi”. (I use the dash ‘-‘ to separate the syllables.)
