Description

Help your students learn how to create amazing infographics for presenting any aspect of their research topic to any audience!! With infographic design rules and ideas, and examples of infographics for each of the fourteen types (yes you read that right!), this resource is sure to be a pretty useful resource for your classroom or homeschool.

Infographics rule the information world. From infographics for mental health to infographics for removing nail polish – it is all out there. They are powerful because they convey accurate information briefly while engaging the viewer with vivid imagery, colors, and short snippets of text.

This resource will help your students understand what infographics are, why they are so effective, the different types of infographics, and how to make effective infographics with whatever resources they have (yup, they don’t need any special infographics program).

Though it does not contain an infographics template for any of the fourteen types, it would help your students learn the characteristics of each type, and make their own taking help from the design ideas and a simplified layout for each. They will go into the depth of planning an infographic – from the information they’d put into the color schemes, fonts, images, and other design elements.

Here’s a look into the table of contents to see what you’d get:

Here are the ways you can use this:

  • Individual – Each student plans for and creates their research infographic individually. One copy of the workbook must be assigned to each student.
  • Group + Individual – A group of students work on the same research topic but each one designs their infographic individually based on the aspect of the research they are interested in. One copy of the workbook must be assigned to each student.
  • Group – A group of students work on the same research infographic and create their infographic together. Each group is assigned a copy of the workbook.

It is ideal to let the students decide the way in which they’d like to work. They work best when they work in the way they like best.

Why you’d love this resource?

  1. Your students can work on it independently without your intervention
  2. They will be guided step-by-step by the resource itself.
  3. They can design their own infographic depending on what they’re presenting.
  4. The guiding questions will help them take care of the nitty-gritty details thoroughly.
  5. They can work on it as a group or individually.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can I assign this to my students as independent work?

Yes! This resource has been designed in such a way that your students can work on it independently, requiring minimum assistance from the teacher. I am a Montessori Erdkinder (high school) guide (teacher) and I try to make my students as independent of me as possible.

Does this resource contain infographic templates?

No. This is because for every student has their own way of conceptualizing and designing their infographic. It is important to give them the freedom to do so. Few of my students decided to analyze airplanes and some of them decided to research mental health. Irrespective of their area of research, this resource will help them plan their infographic systematically.

Can this resource be used for different areas of research?

Yes! This resource was created to do just that – irrespective of the field your students are researching, they would learn how to plan their infographic thoroughly with the help of the guiding questions.

I have never researched much myself other than in university where I was forced to. Can I still use this resource?

Yes! Do you know why? Because I have. And, over the years I have figured out how to design effective infographics (though I’m not the most creative person around – I’m a minimalist!!). This is a self-guided resource for your students. It is like me personally hand-holding them through the entire process so that you don’t have to be anxious about it! So chill, teacher, I have your back.

This resource belongs to the Researcher’s Toolkit series I’m working on. Here are few of the other resources that belong to this series

Scorpion Unit Study * * * * *

I love this! There are tons of activities to choose from, hands-on, investigative, writing/journaling, drawing, and more. A comprehensive explanation of the research is also included. When your student finishes this Scorpion Unit Study, he/she will know everything they ever wanted to know about scorpions. However, it is not necessary to finish every activity to learn a lot about insects in general, and scorpions in particular. This insect study makes a great addition to Middle School and High School kids' science studies. My son started asking questions right away. For example, he wanted to know if you could have a scorpion as a pet. Hmmm, never thought of that before! Great ideas, and high-quality content. Thank you!
