Here's a description of the book: Written by a school counselor who partially messed up his own life and who has seen so many others do the same by making bad choices, the book communicates in a down-to-earth encouraging manner important information about the tools needed to become a strong person (character, attitude, responsibility, effort, and self-control). The book is for students, young adults, and parents. It explains how to use the five tools to build a good life through respect for your job (which for young people is to be a student), others, and yourself. Over sixty true short stories (some humorous, some sad, some gut-wrenching) bring the book to life and help to illustrate the main points. (Since about fifteen of these true stories are intense and are not appropriate for elementary or intermediate school age children - they have been placed in a special section near the end of the book.) The author believes that anyone can become a strong person and build a good life if they set their mind to it and put in the effort that's required to achieve these important goals.

In addition to writing this book and three others, Mr. W. (as his students call him) started "Respect Club" - a unique school club for all grades that's designed to help schools, communities, and parents model, teach, encourage, and recognize respect in a fun way (more information can be found at respectclub.org).
