Description

Print or Digital -- you have both! Get students ready for critical thinking and research by learning how to evaluate digital data by determining the value of a website. Have them practice this skill before they need to begin research for a project.

Ready for your distance learning or in-person classroom setting.

What teachers are saying about my digital literacy resources:

  • "I think this may be the most thorough and well done resource I have ever purchased on here. THANK YOU. You're attention to detail and thoroughness have made my day so much simpler!"
  • "Teaches students useful and I dare say necessary skills! Should be a must in middle school."
  • "Outstanding bundle of lessons! Woohoo! This is going to make a huge difference this coming school year. I can't wait to use everything. Excellent work - thank you!! :-)"

This lesson is more than just a checklist (though students will receive a nifty checklist!) -- it offers four different websites for students to evaluate and think critically about what different websites offer.

  • Really teach evaluation and critical thinking!

You can choose how your students practice: they can work independently, in centers, or with a partner.

You can determine what and how much they practice. I've included five websites -- use one to model the lesson and the other four for additional practice. You can provide additional practice with other websites of your choice.

What you get:

  • digital and print versions
  • Lesson plans
  • Pre-lesson self-assessment
  • Student notes
  • Evaluation Questions that can be used for any online resource
  • QR codes/websites -- one to model the lesson and four for student use
  • Formative Assessment with QR code and website
  • Reflection post-assessment
  • Journal prompts
  • Teacher checklist
  • Answer keys ...
  • and, of course, a student checklist!

What to love about this resource:

  • Ready to teach those valuable critical thinking skills
  • 5 different websites with QR codes that you can use -- one for modeling & 4 for students
  • Evaluation questions can be applied to any website
  • Assessment included -- plus answer key, checklists, QR codes and links
  • Students will evaluate not just what is written on the website, but how it's written and by whom.
