It's almost Mother's Day and if your students are fans of the How to Catch a Series by Adam Wallace and Alice Walstead, then they will love How to Catch a Mamasaurus! Designed for primary students, this comprehensive lesson plan is packed full of engaging opportunities for students to use text clues to describe Mamasaurus. This download is loaded with options to customize for the perfect-fit lesson for your students. A wide variety of book companion activities (including a nonfiction crafts to send home as Mother's Day gifts) can be done at a time that works best for your class!

Lesson Objective: Students will be able to use the text and illustrations to describe the character in How to Catch a Mamasaurus.

Rigorous text dependent questions promote discussion, allowing students to collect evidence and make inferences about Mamasaurus using the words and pictures; your students will notice how special Mamasaurus is to the kids! Three anchor chart options are included to collect examples of Mamasaurus's special qualities. At the end of the lesson, students will respond to the the following prompt independently: What makes Mamasaurus so special to the kids? How do you know? Several differentiated assessment options are included.
