What educators are saying

I have loved using a house system, and my students really enjoy it also. They are so motivated to make sure their house is doing well!
Adding houses to my classroom community has been great this year. A great way to teach about teams and build on them.

    Description

This bundle is perfect for building classroom community with a house system AND teaching classroom essential habits! Both ideas are inspired by Ron Clark, but adapted to work in an elementary classroom and fit your individual needs (EDITABLE!)

Here's a closer look at each product:

    House System:

Everything you need to get started with the House System (Inspired by Ron Clark) with a thorough teachers guide! Did you know you can use the house system with or without a point system? I give you the option for both! The House System is much more than just tracking points for behavior, but it is also a classroom community builder! In fact I tie it into my classroom jobs, and "house challenges!" This exemplifies team work, kindness, and students being able to be a part of something in our classroom!

    Included in this pack is:

-A comprehensive teachers guide. I explain how I run the House System in my classroom with some variation suggestions you can make work for your classroom.

-4 High Quality PNG shields for the 4 houses. The houses are Genus (kindness,) Vitae (vitality,) Isibindi (courage,) and Amistad (friendship.) You can use these images however you'd like in your personal classroom. I used them to tape onto my giant spinner wheel and spin the wheel to call out different houses for different things.

-Shield Chants. I created 4 chants to go along with each house. The chants explain the meaning of their name and are a fun way to bring each house together. You can print and laminate these or frame them for classroom decor.

-Mini Shields for student labels. You can have each student label either a notebook, binder, or in my classroom, book boxes with their shield! I also put a small circle on each one that could be used for your students initials or classroom numbers. I've also seen these used as cubby or backpack hook labels.

-Button Pin Templates. I created 1.5 inch circular images for each house. You can simply print off 1 page (full of 7-8 buttons for each house) and pop into a button pin. Button pins are very inexpensive and these make great personalized gifts for student back packs! These are a great community builder for your classroom houses!

-Head of Household application. I tie my class houses into my classroom job system. Each month I select 1 student from each house to be the HOH (Head of Household.) That student is assigned a classroom job, is the leader of their house for the month, and also gets to eat lunch with me 1 time during the month at our monthly HOH lunch. Another great way to build community in your classroom!

    - Point Trackers! If you'd like to use this as a positive reward system (like done at Ron Clark Academy) I've included 4 trackers that can be printed and laminated for use all year long. Using an expo marker you can record weekly, monthly, and yearly points.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions! This resource has been a huge classroom community and relationship builder in my classroom. I know it can be for you too!

    Essential 33:

Are you looking to implement habits into your classroom? These 33 habits are adapted from the original 55 Essentials from Ron Clark to be more elementary friendly. Habits can not only build classroom community, but also give you a way to teach manners, courtesy, and other skills to your students explicitly.

I use these to make a bulletin board in my classroom and teach all 33 during the first month of school. We then reference and practice them all year long. I find that explicitly teaching students manners, behaviors, and common courtesy skills (like saying thank you when given something,) makes for a kinder and more thoughtful group of students.

I want this to work for YOUR classroom, so I've also included each back ground blank so you can add your own habits. I also include which font you can download for personal use to match the rest of the design.

    Included in this product is:

    1) Essential 33 Habits in list form for you to keep in your teacher binder or somewhere for quick reference.

    2) 33 Habits in a BRIGHT COLOR design both numbered and un-numbered

    3) 33 Habits in a PASTEL WATER COLOR design both numbered and un-numbered

    4) Editable Powerpoint with all backgrounds available to add in your own habits and make changes

    5) 3 different bulletin board letter options "Essential 33," "3rd Grade's Essential 33" and "Essential Habits."

Need multiple licenses? I give a BIG discount of 50% for purchasing of additional licenses!
