Honeybee Hive: An Interactive Game for PowerPoint

Bring some fun to your distance learning! In the spirit of other cause and effect games, like Pop-Up Pirate, Honeybee Hive is an interactive game for several players. You're a bear and you're looking to steal some honey! Click honey cells to gather honey, but watch out for the bees! One of the cells in each game triggers a swarm! Once you're swarmed, it's game over!

This digitally interactive resource is designed for use with PowerPoint™. You will need PowerPoint to access this product! Share your screen and mouse control to play via distance learning. (If mouse sharing isn't permitted, have the student direct which cells the click.)

To Play:

1. Open game file in PowerPoint™. (Two files are included, one with numbers and one without. Choose the one that works for you!)

2. The file will open and you will see 14 identical slides. Click on “Slide Show”>“Play from Start” to begin play. (It will also work to start from any slide, so “Slide Show”> “Start from Current Slide” is fine too.)

3. With mouse, click the circular honey cells on the hive. In each game, one cell is set to make the bees swarm. (That cell is different in each game.)

4. Once the bees swarm, an arrow will appear. Click the arrow to advance to a new game.

5. The game will continuously cycle through 14 games until you see the “Game Over” icon. At that point, click the “esc” button to end the game and go back to slide view. You may begin again at 1, if you’d like.
