What educators are saying

My 7th graders always need to practice commonly misused homophones, and this is a fun way for them to show what they know. I love the review slides so they can look back as needed before completing the activity.
We used this activity as a review during a day when other activities had thrown off our schedule and it was a perfect review that kept them engaged.

Description

This Homophones Escape room is great for beginning of the year review and pre-assessment. It is also great for the end of the year review before and after state tests.

Students will need to access a google form, so ANY technology that allows them to access and complete a google form will work!

There are 4 stations they must complete to escape.

Station 1
Then vs. Than
Students will have to figure out if they should use then or than in 5 different sentences.

Station 2
There, Their and They're
Students will have to figure out 5 sentences that use there, their, and they're correctly out of 10 sentences.

Station 3
To, too, and two
Students will have to figure out if they should use to, too, or two in 5 sentences.

Station 4
It's vs. its and You're vs. your
Students will have to match the correct use of it's, its, your, and you're to 4 example sentences.

Once students have completed all of the stations and figured out the code for each one, they will get on the google form (link provided in resource) and enter their codes. If they are unable to enter a code, it's because it is wrong and they must go back and check their work.

Once they have all of the codes correct, the google form will show that they have escaped!
