Are you looking for a Christmas book project that is packed full of standards aligned reading activities? Using the book Home for Christmas by Jan Brett, students will write a story summary, describe the main character with text evidence, analyze character change over time, determine the author's message, and work with story vocabulary. Students complete a book project with interactive notebook pages and create an elf craft based on the main character from the story. This project works well in guided reading groups or with a shared read aloud. The teacher will need to have the book Home for Christmas by Jan Brett in order to complete this project. The book is *not included* in this download.
This project can be completed within students’ interactive notebooks OR on construction paper (as shown in the preview pictures.)
The focus of this project is on character traits, the main character’s change over time, summary writing, vocabulary, and author’s message.
