    Description

This bundle includes five fun writing assignments for holidays!

    Bundle includes:

Writing a Valentine's Day Poem - This assignment is a fun and engaging way for students to learn about various elements of poetry while celebrating Valentine’s Day. The packet includes guidelines to help students write a three-stanza poem. Students learn about rhyme scheme and syllabication. They also learn about various elements of poetry such as similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, alliteration, and assonance. Graphic organizers are provided to assist students in brainstorming ideas for their poems, and a final page is included for writing the poem.

The Leprechaun's Quest for Gold (St. Patrick's Day) - Combine language arts and social studies with this fun spring creative writing resource! Students write a short story and practice their cartography skills by making a treasure map to supplement their story. This project-based resource includes four graphic organizers to help students brainstorm ideas for their stories and maps. An example map is also included. Be sure to include it with your other narrative writing prompts!

Ghost Hunter Witness Report (Halloween) - Give your students a fun writing prompt that encourages their creativity! Students use their imagination to brainstorm three fictional ghost sightings. They then fill out reports for each sighting and use the information from the reports to complete a sightings summary. Clear instructions walk them through how to complete the assignment. Perfect for Halloween, October, or for including in urban legends units!

Thankful Essays (Thanksgiving Narrative Writing Assignment) - This resource is perfect for a November writing assignment! Students reflect on people, places, and things they are thankful for while writing a six-paragraph essay. While ideal for Thanksgiving, it can be used whenever you want students to write a personal narrative with self-reflection. There are specific sub-topics for the body paragraphs and several ideas for each sub-topic to help students who struggle with generating content. A graphic organizer is included to help students brainstorm ideas, as well as detailed instructions for writing the essay. There is also a reflection page that can be used as closure. Be sure to include it with your other narrative writing prompts!

Writing About a Snowpal (Winter/Christmas) - This creative writing project is perfect for engaging middle school students during the winter holidays or on a snowy day. Students will have the opportunity to create a snowpal protagonist, develop a setting, and outline a plot for their stories. The resource includes story writing graphic organizers to assist students in structuring their narratives. An editing and revising checklist for self-assessment encourages students to check their work closely before starting their final drafts. Include it with your other narrative writing prompts the next time you need a winter writing activity!
