Description

The perfect writing assignment for the month of December. This holiday informational/explanatory writing assignment gives students the opportunity to learn about different holidays around the world. Students will be assigned or choose a holiday to research and then write their own informative essay. One page gives different holidays to research, but you can also write your own holidays in if you would like. Students can use the graphic organizer to help organize their ideas before writing their explanatory essay.

What's included?

Included in this download is a small question sheet to help drive their research. Once they have found the information that they need they will use one of the two graphic organizers to start their writing process. One graphic organizer is for a simple one paragraph essay. The other graphic organizer can be used to expand their writing and possibly stretch it to a five paragraph essay. There is a page included for students to write their essay on. Lastly, there is a Venn Diagram for students to get with a partner and share what they learned about their holiday. Then they will fill out the Venn diagram comparing their holidays.
