Holes: Predictions and Observations
Description
My favorite activity at the conclusion of a lengthy read-aloud is to watch the Hollywood version, to compare and contrast the differing stories. It strongly reinforces the fact that "seeing the movie" does not mean you've "read the book".
Before the movie begins, we make predictions. All of the answers are "YES" in terms of the book, but not in terms of the movie. We discuss how predictions are just that, and cannot be wrong.
As we watch the movie together, we watch for the similarities and differences, and record them in the observation column of the worksheet.
At the end, any number of follow-up activities can be had, such as writing a review of the film and using the evidence from the worksheet as support.
Hope you enjoy. I have many other papers of this type, so let me know if there is another in particular you're looking for!
