History Channel's How the Earth Was Made Season Two Video Worksheet Bundle

How the Earth Was Made Season 2 is a wonderful 13-episode earth science documentary series that was originally broadcast on the History Channel. The episodes are set up as detective stories, where multiple lines of evidence are used to come to reasonable conclusions.

You will need to obtain DVDs of the videos or locate an internet site for streaming.

How the Earth Was Made Season 2 tells the story of the Earth by highlighting many of its well-known features. Topics include plate tectonics (Yosemite, Rockies, Ring of Fire, Everest, America’s Gold), earthquakes and volcanoes (Vesuvius, Mount St. Helens, Earth’s Deadliest Eruption), Earth's ice ages and changing climate (Grand Canyon, Sahara, Death Valley, America’s Ice Age) and the story of Earth’s origin and history (Birth of the Earth). Each episode also highlights many of the historical figures who investigated Earth's mysteries, people such as John Wesley Powell, Louis Agassiz, John Muir, & Ernst Rutherford.

The video worksheets are all one-page, double-sided handouts consisting of approximately 45 to 55 multiple choice questions that track the progress of each video. This format enables the students to pay attention to the videos while quickly recording their answers. In this way, the students are not bogged down in writing long responses, and they can better enjoy watching the videos.
