What educators are saying

I now also have the updated version of this activity. My students love using this as part of a rotation.
PERFECT for literacy groups and for engaging my little learners who are more reluctant to write. It's a big yes from me!

Description

Are you looking for engaging high-frequency word activities for consolidating high-frequency words? These 'sight word' card templates can be used with fidget spinners to consolidate knowledge of high-frequency words with tricky spellings or untaught spelling patterns ( heart words).

40 templates are included with 240 words:

  • High-frequency "tricky" words- high-frequency words with a tricky spelling
  • High-frequency 'flash' words - high-frequency words which are easily decodable
  • Days of the weeks, months of the year, number words, colours

These templates can be used in many different ways including:

- spin and read the word

- spin and spell the word

- spin and write the word

- spin and make the word

- spin and put into a sentence

Encourage students to identify the tricky part of the word that they have to know by heart.

Some fidget spinner tips:

  • Use mini stickers or different markings to identify the 'pointer' or to differentiate the task.
  • Encourage gentle spins to reduce time-wastage as students wait for their spinners to stop spinning!
