What educators are saying

Great to accompany the movie! We watched the movie for Black History Month, and followed up with the activity.

Description

This fantastic lesson plan on NASA's "Hidden Figures" Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson is a great way to bring their amazing stories into your classroom!

Now made famous by the book and movie "Hidden Figures" these 3 African American women were pioneers at NASA during the Space Race and helped John Glenn and other astronauts into space.

Included in this download are 3 1-page biography readings on the 3 women, a page on cut-out "pop up" figures of the women, a timeline activity, and a 2-page worksheet on the readings.

The timelines are based on the readings and there are 2 options for differentiation. Completed pictures are included for your convenience. This makes for a great cooperative learning activity or in class lesson plan that combines key aspects of the Cold War and Civil Rights Movement into one engaging and important lesson.

An editable Google Doc version of the readings and worksheet is also now included for your convenience!
