Description

"Hidden Figures" (2016) is a biographical drama film that tells the untold story of three African-American women mathematicians - Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson - who played crucial roles at NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program. Set against the backdrop of the Space Race and the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, the film follows these remarkable women as they overcome racial and gender discrimination to make groundbreaking contributions to the country's space missions. Their calculations were essential for the successful launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit and played a significant role in advancing America's space exploration efforts. Through their perseverance and brilliance, they challenged stereotypes, broke barriers, and paved the way for future generations of women and minorities in STEM fields. "Hidden Figures" celebrates their achievements while shedding light on the often overlooked contributions of African-American women to American history.
